Week Without Walls
Learning outside the classroom
The Week Without Walls at ASHK is a cornerstone experiential learning program that benefits children by taking education beyond the traditional classroom. Through carefully curated local and international trips focused on service, adventure, and cultural immersion, students develop invaluable life skills including resilience, teamwork, and cross-cultural understanding. They are challenged to step outside their comfort zones, fostering independence and self-confidence while participating in activities that build a stronger, more compassionate community. Ultimately, the program cultivates globally-minded, well-rounded individuals by connecting academic learning to real-world contexts and creating lasting memories that shape their character and perspective.
Elementary School
The Week Without Walls program in Elementary at ASHK is a carefully designed, age-appropriate adventure that builds resilience, independence, and a spirit of discovery from the very youngest learners up. Our KG students embark on an exciting one-day local excursion, a perfect introduction to learning beyond the classroom that fosters curiosity and teamwork. Grades 1 and 2 extend this with two-day field trips for deeper exploration and more challenging activities, strengthening social bonds and confidence. Grade 3 students take their first overnight trip, a pivotal moment in developing self-reliance. Grades 4 and 5 embark on a three-day, two-night camp, immersing themselves in new environments, strengthening teamwork, leadership, and personal growth. This progressive approach ensures that each student is appropriately challenged, fostering essential life skills and fostering a tight-knit community of adventurous learners.

Secondary School
Grades 6-12 students go on week-long trips that extend education far beyond the classroom walls. Distinct from the daily academic routine, WWW is designed to immerse students in creativity, activity, and service (CAS)—fulfilling a core requirement of the IB diploma. These real-world experiences challenge participants to deepen their understanding of global issues, build meaningful relationships, and embark on a journey of self-discovery, shaping them into more aware, proactive, and impactful global citizens.
