Middle School at ASHK will continue to build on the programs implemented within the Elementary School while valuing and nurturing the enormous potential for creative and courageous work that adolescents possess. Dynamic learning will foster independence, encourage students to be active, develop organizational and other life-long learning skills and harness the potential for adolescents to become more fully realized as young adults.
As in the Elementary School, learning will continue to be standards based and follow the ‘STEAM’ approach. Subject specific teachers will provide instruction and students will move around the building to attend classes. The addition of French and Spanish as electives will be offered within the Middle School as well as the opportunities to engage in visual and performing arts and physical education programs.
Experiential education trips will be offered to engage students in authentic learning projects which will reinforce social skills and develop empathy within a global context.
